About
Hi! I’m Eli, a cinematographer and photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.
With over 10 years of experience behind the camera, I’ve built a diverse portfolio spanning narrative short films, music videos, television commercials, a web series, and a wide variety of digital content.
I’ve held key creative roles on several award-winning and internationally recognized projects, including director of photography, camera operator, lead editor, and sound designer. Notable projects I’ve worked on include the feature films Safe House 1618 (2021), Forgery (2018), No Storybook Love (2019), and Country Mustard (2020) as well as the shorts Dust on the Back of the Eye (2024), Late So Soon (2018), Young Summer (2016), Overheated (2020) and the long-running absurdist sci-fi web series Temporal Hills.
My filmmaking is deeply influenced by the surrealism of David Lynch and Maya Deren, the humanistic lens of Agnès Varda, the formal experimentation and documentary/narrative blend of Alain Resnais, and the suspenseful storytelling of Alfred Hitchcock. I love exploring the quiet, intimate moments of daily life (including some of the darker sides)—stories grounded in realism but touched by the dreamlike and otherworldly. Or really anything that’s just kind of weird.
My love of travel has also shaped my perspective as a filmmaker and as a person—perhaps most notably through a documentary I shot in Ecuador back in 2017, where I was able to capture the building and dedication of a school in a rural community. I hope to continue traveling the world and am currently working toward a goal of visiting every continent before turning 30.
In addition to narrative and documentary work, I’m also an experienced wedding videographer, having filmed over 100 weddings across the U.S., with a focus on luxury weddings in Southern California but really anywhere that has good catering and a buffet.
I studied English and Film at the University of Northern Colorado, where my foundation and interest in literature, storytelling, and film history continues to inform my artistic voice. It also means we could have an extremely long conversation about “The Great Gatsby” or Ozu’s filmography.
